Upcoming Events - February, 2009
Dear East Hills Families:
Although February is a short month, there are many wonderful events happening at East Hills.
• Thanks to our wonderful PTA, our fourth and fifth grade students will enjoy Game Night on Friday, February 5th from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. This is a family event that will take place in the East Hills School Auditorium. All children must be accompanied by an adult. It is not a drop off event. We hope to see you there!
• Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and thanks to our PTA and the Fifth Grade Activities Committee all the students will have the opportunity to buy something special for the special people in their lives. The Valentine’s Day Gift Fair will be on Tuesday, February 9th through Wednesday, February 10th. Your child’s classroom teacher will notify you as to the day and time your child will be attending. All items will cost $1 to $5.
• Artwork by several of our East Hills’ students will be on exhibition at the Bryant Library. The East Hills Artists’ reception will be on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 3:30 pm.
• In honor of Black History Month, the February Book of the Month is This Is The Dream which is a beautiful book that celebrates the power of nonviolent change. We are confident this book will spark rich conversation about diversity and humanity school-wide.
• We are so impressed with the generosity of our children, families, and staff. Our “Helping Hands for Haiti” fundraiser exceeded all expectations! Our helping hands with messages of love and hope adorn the main hallway of our school. We will be donating over $7100 to the American Red Cross of Nassau County. Representatives from the Red Cross will be here on Monday, February 8th to accept the donation, thank our children and take photos to celebrate the success of our efforts.
REMINDERS:
• The East Hills PTA Meeting is on Thursday, February 11th at 6:30 pm in our cafeteria.
• Schools closed February 15th – February 19th. We reopen on Monday, February 22nd.
