Summer Reading
2010
For students entering
Grade 10
Dear Student,
If you plan to enroll in the World Literature (Regents)
class, you are required to read one selection
from the following list.
If you plan to enroll in the World Literature and
Analysis (honors) class, you will be required to read two (2) selections from the list.
Please remember that you are entering a course
entitled “World Literature,” which is why many of these titles appear
unfamiliar. The list before you is a
collection of contemporary titles written by authors who represent multiple
cultures and ethnicities. Some of the
authors are American but represent a multicultural background, while other
authors on the list hail from countries outside of the United States. Any title chosen should provide you with a
better understanding of the multicultural realm.
Use the following key to help you make your choice
Contemporary (C)
Mature (M)
Mystery and Suspense (M&S)
Non-Fiction (NF)
Science Fiction (S)
Teenage Issues (TI)
For further information regarding the titles, as well
as book reviews, please go to www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com.
Approximately three weeks into the school year, you
will be asked to write or essay or do an assignment based on your book(s). This grade will become part of your first
quarter average.
Enjoy reading and have a great summer!
Sincerely,
The Tenth
